just a couple of months and it wouldn't hold its position. I've been meaning to contact the company to return it but for the price involved and the hassle it'll take to return it, I may just recycle it. I bought two of them and so far the other one has lasted a couple months longer than the first, so if you by one, buy two. I'd buy another brand.
Fast forward a few months later...
I've read where these things die and can be resurrected.
Here's how: go to your local big-box hardware store and buy about 6 feet of large gauge electrical wiring, solid, like 12 gauge for 20 AMP circuits. Cut the outer shield and take the internal plastic coated wires out, cut them into lengths that will fit into the gooseneck leaving about a half-inch of room at each end (for the threaded parts. You'll see this when you look at it). Now, take as many pieces of wire as you can and stuff them into the gooseneck. You may have to bend the gooseneck a little from side to side while you're threading the wires into it, but when you get them all inside, and they stay (you can always put in a dab of silicone or cheap acrylic caulk), it'll work again. About a two dollar fix for a 12 dollar item and it'll last forever. Reduce, reuse, recycle.
Easy fix. But too bad it has to be done at all. I originally gave it three stars, now that I know more about how many of these fail, and how to fix it, I gave it four stars. But they can do better.
