This probably has been one of the better items I brought home to my studio in recent years. It's been one of the better purchases I've made for my studio when it comes to affordable gear. I was really impressed with the quality and construction of this filter. I thought it wouldn't be as sturdy as it was but the filter is built very well.
As far as how it sounds goes that was a plus for me too. I did try the standard SE filter and I enjoyed it a lot. I just didn't feel that the price was right for what it did as it was almost just as much as my mic was. The AE-F filter sounds good, and I mean it really does sound good!
It definitely provided a significant improvement with the songs I record. My vocalist enjoyed it because it was much wider than the previous filter I used on the mic. It is a pretty large unit which works well because I don't like my vocalist feeling claustrophobic like they have a wall in front of them. The only thing I didn't like so much about the filter is that it doesn't have a stand like the one on the SE. I could hook it up to my boom mic but it took some Macgyver skills (actually I just had to find a nut to keep it in place).
Nice filter and good for the price I paid I'm happy with it.
