The transmitter is made of plastic and doesn't securely attach to your guitar strap or belt so if it falls it can easily be damaged. In terms of the sound, it does take away some amount of tone but isn't too bad. May not be recognizable to the less experienced guitarists.
It occasionally makes a crackle now and then but I found that there was nothing I could do about that. I first thought that it was due to my positioning but it wasnt. The crackle is very low (noticeable but low). Nonetheless, its a good item for the price. I've never used it at a live show so I can't really comment on reliability live. I say go for it, its cheap. You get what u pay for but for 40 bucks I think you get a little more in this.
