I bought this from a Guitar Center years ago while on tour. The guy was trying to talk me into another $500 rackmount but I opted for this (which was $300 at the time). Audio Technica makes some cheap wireless systems that work VERY well. For the money they can't be beat. But the DR-2505 has always stood out to me for several reasons.
1- It is simple to use. Hook it up and go. A good selection of channels, small and light, squelch control, and thats it. That is all you need.
2- It actually adds to my tone. Most wireless systems either suck your tone or leave it alone but with the DR-2505 I have always been able to get a little extra gain that really makes my sound smoother and more aggressive.
3- No breakup no cross-talk. No drop out. Great battery life. Performs exactly like I would expect it to. GREAT range, way more than even needed. I love being able to step on stage with it and be fully confident. I used to have to worry with wireless systems, not anymore.
The one thing I will say is Audio Technica doesn't have the best costumer service, but there are a lot of stores that are able to help customers. It took me forever to track down an extra transmitter pack for my backup guitar.
My main suggestion! I used to mount this in my rack, but I have since moved it to my pedal board. Do yourself a favor and whatever is coming in your chain after this receiver, put the receiver as close to it as possible and connect it with one of those short pedal chords. Keep it on your pedal board if possible so it will be close to you at all times. You may not think, but the less distance you keep between point A and B will maximize the performance of a wireless.
I've tried the cheaper Audio Technica wireless systems, I've owned expensive rackmounts and for the money, I think this is one of the best choices to go (guitar-wise). I can't say I exactly suggest it for bass, I've tried it and there is a lot of distortion. But you want a guitar wireless system? Get this! Mine is still in great shape just like the day I bought it and I expect it to last many many years more.
