(More customer reviews)We had seen a similar model of this microphone at a friend's party years ago, and had been looking for one at a reasonable price. The ED-8000 seemed to have all the features we wanted at a price that was great.
The song list is pretty extensive, and we liked the ease of the plug-and-play design. You just plug in the red, yellow and white cords into your TV and you're ready to go! Another bonus is that the mike is highly portable. The song list, mike, and the cables all go into the handy carrying case and you're ready to take it to a friend's.
You can adjust the key of the music to go higher or lower if it doesn't match your singing voice, and you can also adjust the tempo if the song feels too fast or slow. The scoring feature is always a hoot; the kids and even some of the adults can get really competitive to see who can get 100's.
We vacillated between buying either Rock Band or this karaoke mike for our Christmas gift to ourselves (we couldn't afford both!) and are glad we went with this mike. Rock Band would've been fun but I know my older relatives and friends would feel uncomfortable playing it, but with the mike, it's much easier to encourage EVERYONE to belt out a tune or two.
If you love to sing, I highly recommend this mike. It's great entertainment for the entire family and is great for parties!
