(More customer reviews)I'm a musician and podcaster who does all kinds of home recording projects, from DVD commentary tracks to songs with a full band. Prior to owning the Nady SCM-800, I used a pair of dynamic mics I'd bought at Radio Shack years earlier. I was immediately impressed with the quality of the Nady, of course, because it's a huge step up. However, it has continued to amaze me with it's warmth and range. I set it up in front of a drum kit and captured everything clearly! The bass levels it gets are incredible as well. I can sit in front of it and play acoustic guitar, and I don't need to do any additional mixing afterward. And for podcasting it has been a dream, very professional and big sound. This is a phantom powered mic, so make sure the mixer or powered device you're plugging it into can supply the necessary power (it has none of its own, no battery or anything). You will also need to purchase a cord for it, but I went ahead and bought a shock mount and a pop filter too. Looks and sounds wonderful. Only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because it came in a zipper case that won't provide adequate protection for storage or transport, but for the price, I didn't expect it to.
