I bought both the tweed and the red/black versions of these cables. After getting braided cables, I don't think I will ever get regular PVC cables again, where possible. The cables just seem like they are more flexible, and they seem really durable.
The problem though, is that one of the cables was suffering from horrible clicking/popping static whenever I so much as touched it. I took off the end, and after fiddling with it for a while, found that the problem was that the prongs were not properly pinched in place. Whenever force was put on the connector, the prongs would slide in the housing and the wires on the back would move closer and maybe spark. By using a pliers and pushing the connector tabs from the back of the connector, they got jammed in place, and uppon reassembly, everything worked great. So, these are fixable if you initially get static when moving them.
Also, a minor qualm is that these smell a little bit like chemicals, but not too bad, think new shoes or something. I've seen much worse. My fender Vintage-Volt braided cable had the same problem, but my Spectra-flex did not. Both of these other cables cost 2-3x more than these, so they aren't in the same category.
So overall, considering that these are really inexpensive, and that they only require SOME tweaking if you get a "bad" cable with static, these are 4-stars. Maybe even 5 stars if you get a good one to start, my red/black one was fine to begin with. These are probably just as good/better than 90% of mic cables out there, at this price, I say go for it.
