(More customer reviews)I searched long and hard for a decent XLR, phantom-powered shotgun mic in the $200-400 range, and I have to say, I'm glad I found the Azden SGM-1000. Not only is the sound quality better than I expected (warm and natural, not at all tinny), but the size and weight also make it a perfect boom mic (the bottom of the shockmount is tapped to allow poles to be attached via 3/8"-16 threads).
Overall, I am very happy with this mic, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for good audio equipment on a budget.
