(More customer reviews)I'm not a professional musician or entertainer, but I've been playing around with all kinds of home recording equipment since I was a kid (40+ years). I bought this mic to use with a wire recorder I recently repaired, and although the machine was designed for a mic with a crystal element, this one works perfectly. When I use it with one of my open-reel tape decks it sounds about as good as any mic I've ever tried. It has good sensitivity with plenty of bass and sparkling clear highs. But as you might expect for this price, it's made pretty cheaply, with an all plastic body and plastic XLR connector where the cable attaches to it. (By the way - only two pins of the XLR connector are used. The third pin hole is empty. This is an unbalanced cable with a 1/4" TS plug at the other end.) I wouldn't buy this mic for a child to use unless he was well-behaved and I was sure that he wasn't going to run around swinging it from the cable, stressing the cheap connector. However, for an adult or a "sensible" child, this mic at this price is a fine deal.
