(More customer reviews)The advertising is not hype. It really sounds and behaves very much like the original Neumann M50. These are my favorite microphones to record orchestras and string quartets with.
The supplied shock mount is not very well engineered, though: The tightrning thumbscrew doesn't tighten enough, and using pliers to really tighten it will break the thumbscrew off. A pity, because these microphones are of such a dimension that no third-party shock-basket will fit. I looked long and hard, believe me.
