(More customer reviews)I've used these mics for recording steel and nylon string acoustic guitars, violin, wooden flute, vocals, and piano. These mics have done well for all of these applications, providing a pleasing tone and low noise floor. While I do find the treble to be a bit too bright sometimes, it is not particularly harsh.
I used to own a pair of SE1 mics, the predecessor to these. I bought the new ones before selling the old, and opted to keep one of the old ones because, in spite of the marketing literature, I find the tone quality to be quite different between them and still pretty good on the SE1. So if you want to upgrade from SE1 to SE1A and are hoping for a noise floor improvement only, you should be aware of this.
I have to say, though, that the supplied stand clips with mine are terrible... The joint is too loose and because of this it is very hard to keep the mics in place. I hope mine are not typical. I know they are not expensive mics, but for $300+ I would appreciate better quality on these accessories.
