Love this mic. I got it to use with my Ion BlockRocker PA system. I wanted a mic that could go directly to the blockrocker without having to go through a separate mixer first (for phantom power). This mic, doesn't use phantom power, but does require a Low Impedance Mic cable (another name for this is Balanced Cable). Usually this isn't a problem for XLR to XLR. The cable it comes with works fine.
The problem I had is that I had a 1/4" input on the ion. So, I needed an XLR to 1/4" cable. I figured, great I'll pick one up from radio shack. WRong! Radio shacks XLR to 1/4" cable is not low impedance (or balanced, another name for it). I took back the radio shack cable and got this one: HHosa STX105M 1/4 TRS To XLR M Interconnect Cable 5 Ft
Then you just plug the xlr to xlr included into the HOSA cable and now you're balanced into the 1/4" of whatever input you have.
So, great mic! Just check if you're using an old cable lying around that's xlr to 1/4" and the mic isn't working, it's likely because that cable isn't balanced. Grab a balanced cable and you're golden!
