(More customer reviews)I bought four of these mics on a steal of a deal. At first I was questionable about their quality, but I was on a very tight budget and had to set up 4 mics for an ADR session. The quality I got out of recording with them still surprises me. Yes, they're that good.
A few situations I've used them in so far:
- ADR session for an independent film
- Live vocals for rock concerts
- Drum kit recordings in a practice studio
- On-set film audio recording
I can tell you that these things rarely ever distort, even under extreme duress from loud screaming vocals. They pick up sound very clear and strong from up to about 3-5 feet away, and naturally fade with distance beyond that. They're rugged and travel well, have solid XLR connectors (no clicking issues with XLR cables - as long as you don't have crappy cables, of course)
The spectrum of sound the DRV100 picks up is great, drum kits recorded with these sound nice and crisp (shameless plug, you can check out drums recorded with these at my band's page- thecarnivalofshadows.com)
Overall, a great mic at a super low price. I wouldn't be surprised to see a price hike on these once word gets out on them. I have a feeling they're going to be pretty popular before long, glad I got mine cheap!
