(More customer reviews)I had read a review about the ST51 in Electronic Musician [...]and when I was researching the ST51 online I came across the ST55. I decided to go with the ST55 only because it has the additional features of the high pass filter and attenuation pad switches. Being a home studio I don't have the luxury of a vocal booth. For vocal recording I use a makeshift one out of a couple mics boom stands and a duvet to make a corner for the singer to stand in front of. The high pass filter should help the mic ignore some of the more mundane sounds of the room like the PC fan running, etc.
In addition to the mic I would highly recommend getting the shock mount and the pop-filter. I added these accessories not because it was recommended but because they are necessities. They help filter out unwanted noises and greatly improve the sound quality. And when recording vocals the pop-filter helps keep the singer from trying to eat the mic :-)
