It's small, light weight, compact, and unlike other booms with tension based adjustment screws and rubber washers; this one locks in place with two sets of tight fitting locking teeth and a big fat screw knob (nothing to strip). There is a metal washer in beween the two sets of "teeth." Doesn't have any counterweight so the sturdiness and weight of the stand it's attached to will determine how heavy a microphone and clip or suspension mount it will accommodate.
I bought it to salvage a slightly broken mic stand I got for free from work so for $7 I have an extra usable stand and boom. Not bad, eh?
