(More customer reviews)In concept, this item is a great product. To use your own tv and dvd player as a karaoke machine by just plugging in a microphone is a great idea. And, I have yet to find another manufacturer offering a similar product.
However, this product is a very poor quality item. First, it is not as easy as just plugging it into your dvd player. If you have a satellite dish receiver (or maybe a cable receiver), you have to unplug some connections to make room for this item. I thought that the connections would be easier.
Secondly, we could not get sufficient volume out of this device. It was BARELY audible above your own voice. The echo feature added a little volume, but it was annoying. To get ANY volume, you had to place the device DIRECTLY on your lips (practically in your mouth)and you had to hold it straight out, not down at an angle. The sound quality itself was poor. The item also flickered on and off randomly.
The box indicates that the dvd has background vocals that you can turn on / off. There were no background vocals at all on the disc.
Finally, the selection of songs that came with the product were, for lack of a better term, lame. I am not a young person, but I don't believe the majority of these songs would be generally known by anyone under 65.
I would not recommend this product for any reason.
